Understand the major players and ideas in astronomy history.
Learn to observe the sky with the naked eye, small and medium size amateur telescopes. Targets include both near and deep sky objects.

This course includes hands-on experience using an amateur telescope to find and observe planets and deep sky objects. A variety of viewing aids, including a Celestron Nextar 130mm SLT telescope , are at our disposal for scheduled and spontaneous stargazing.
At least 2 public stargazing events will be held where students will teach others their observing skills.
