Exercise: Gratitude Lists
Task: Take 15 to 30 minutes once a week. Identify three things you feel genuinely grateful for. Describe about them in detail, how they came to be in your life and the positive influence they have.

Rationale: purposefully experiencing gratitude cultivates an attitude of hope and optimism about the world. It shifts our perspective from fear of threat and deprivation to one of security and confidence.

I am grateful for my closest friends. They have empowered me and comforted me through thick and thin and I couldn’t ask for better people in my life.

I am grateful for my upbringing. Growing up home schooled has given me such a unique take on life and learning. Also being around so many performers and artists has shown me how sweet and fun the world can be.

I am grateful to live in the time period that I do. We live in a world with so much access to knowledge. The internet has given me and many other young people an option to build new friendships and find new communities. We have more freedom to express ourselves than ever before.
